We had the most amazing weekend visiting our friends in Durango. We loved everything about their town. It was the most perfect mountain town. The kids were so excited to have an extended sleep over with their friends. The girls were all upstairs and the boys hung out in the basement. We spent the first morning at the farmers market before heading up to Silverton. The drive was gorgeous. We had a great picnic lunch and then headed further up the canyon. The kids had fun playing in the creek and using the outside toilet. It was a toilet with walls but no roof. We thought that was interesting. We didn't ride the train from Silverton this time but look forward to coming back to do that another year.
The next day was sunny and warm so we headed to the lake for a day of paddle boarding fun. Peter and Sean were the first ones out on the paddle board. Those silly kids took two paddles instead of one so we couldn't use one of the boards until they got back. The lake was not crowded at all which was surprising because it was a holiday weekend. Everyone had a turn on the paddle boards, even Yama their dog. When the kids weren't on the paddle boards they were playing around on the muddy beachside. We were so amazed by how beautiful this place was.
Between our adventures we had the best time just hanging out at the house, staying up late talking, and eating yummy food. Josh and Sam made the best shrimp and grits the last night we were there. We sat out on their porch and ate our dinner while watching the sun set. It was the perfect night. We are so glad our friends live close and can't wait to hang out with them again.
