While Grandpa Al was still in town, we decided to do Andrew’s Priesthood Ordination to the Melchizedek Priesthood in preparation for his mission to Frankfurt, Germany. We were fortunate enough to have Joe Hale come over as a member of our Stake High Council. Mike gave a spectacular blessing to Andrew. We are so excited for Andrew’s future and the amazing things he will be able to do now that he holds the higher priesthood.
I have to admit that when they announced home church, I wasn’t sad at all. When I was a kid, and we lived in Beijing, China, we had church in our apartment. There were usually about 40 people there (this was back in the 1980s). After Sacrament meeting, I would go to primary. For about 1 year, I was the only primary kid, so I would just go to my bedroom and play Super Mario Bros. while the adults did Sunday School. So, it was pretty great. Granted, home church now is not quite like that, but it is still pretty great. Sara plays the piano, Abby conducts, the boys bless the sacrament, then we do a lesson from Come Follow Me. It works out pretty well, and then when you’re done, you are already home. I’m glad they have the Come Follow Me curriculum, otherwise, it might be a little more difficult, but it works out pretty well right now and I am grateful that we can be together as a family on Sunday, even if it’s just in our living room.
