My Mother’s Day actually started on Saturday this year because I got a super special call from Peter who was calling me on Mother’s Day in his time zone. I wasn’t expecting that phone call at all, and it really made my day. Mike is always so good about helping me feel so special on Mother’s Day. This year he made a wonderful pancake breakfast with bacon and fresh fruit before we all headed to church. During Sacrament meeting we heard the most amazing talks, but my favorite was Mike’s talk. It was the best talk he ever gave. After church we all came home, quickly took some photos, and then Mike made chicken salad sandwiches on fresh croissants. That was one of my requests and it did not disappoint. For the remainder of the day, we all lounged around in the family room, just resting, and chatting until Peter called. I loved being able to talk with Peter again. The day ended with homemade Chicago style pizza, root beer, and back rubs. I am a really lucky girl to have so many people who care for and appreciate me on Mother’s Day!
"A mother is she who can take the place of all others but whose place no one else can take." -Cardinal Mermillod
Words cannot even describe how grateful I am for my own mother and the amazing influence she has on my life. She was my first friend, is my best friend, and will be my forever friend. "There's no way to be a perfect mother and a million ways to be a good one." - Jill Churchill I love this quote about motherhood. It's not about being perfect but being present and loving in the lives of our children. I love my kids and I would do anything for them. I'm grateful for this day to celebrate how wonderful motherhood really is and the blessing of being able to teach my children how to find peace and joy in times of uncertainty. It truly has been a time of uncertainty in our lives with all that has happened with the COVID crisis, but I have found joy in being able to spend more time with my kids. Being able to step away from all the noise of the world has allowed me to be a better mother and to recognize the areas that I need to work on. I couldn’t have asked for a better Mother’s Day. I love Mother's Day not only because my family pampers me so much but because it is a reminder of how grateful I am to be a mother to my five kids. Each one of them is special and unique and they all teach me different things. I can't imagine my family without any one of them. Being a mother is such a privilege that I don't take for granted. I grew up in a house with the most wonderful mother and I only hope to emulate the kindness and love that she had for me growing up and the love she has for all of her adult children. She has been the best example to me of motherhood and womanhood. I'm really lucky to have someone to look up to as I try to always be the best mom I can be. Motherhood is hard, but it is such a blessing that brings me so much joy!
I had the BEST Mother’s Day this year. As always, Mike goes above and beyond to make this day special for me. He started out with a giant breakfast of buttermilk pancakes, bacon, berries, and chocolate milk. Yummy. We snapped a few quick photos of me and the kids before heading to church. During Relief Society we had the most ridiculous spread of food. Needless to say, Mike didn’t have to make a special lunch because I had one at church. After church I got to take a nap without interruptions and then had a fantastic dinner of chicken cordon bleu. The kids were pleasant and kind all day, which was the best present I could have received from them. I feel so blessed to be a mother to all these awesome kids of mine. They all bring me so much JOY! I can't believe that I have been on this journey for almost 17 years. I have grown and learned so much from my kids. I can't imagine doing anything else in my life.
