We spent the afternoon before graduation hosting a grad party for Peter with all of his close friends. We had both Pine Creek themed and University of Utah themed treats. It was a great way to say good bye to Pine Creek HS and hello to the University life. We had a memorabilia table with some of Peter's achievements and awards, his t-shirt quilt, letter jacket and photos from every school year. It was fun to see how much he changed over the years. The biggest change, however, was between junior and senior year where he really started looking like a young man who was ready to enter adulthood. I'm so glad that Peter enjoyed spending some time with his friends celebrating the end of their high school life together.
Since all the celebrations at school had been cancelled due to the COVID crisis, we decided to do a little 8th grade graduation celebration for Emma while grandpa Al was visiting. I ordered a fun yard sign and some yummy customized sugar cookies and cake pops. This lady who makes these delicious treats is such a treasure. She made the most amazing cookies for Emma. The 2020 cookie even had a face mask and a roll of toilet paper on it to commemorate the COVID-19 crazy. One of my favorite cookies was the blonde girl with the cap and gown. She really went above and beyond to make it special for Emma. Emma was an excellent student at Challenger Middle School. She got mostly A's and a few B's throughout the three years she was there. She was able to get straight A's her entire 8th grade year. We couldn't have been prouder of the amazing things she accomplished!
We had a small graduation open house for Andrew the day after graduation. I had given Andrew several graduation announcements with the open house printed on there for him to give to his friends. It turns out that he didn’t hand out very many of them. It ended up being a small open house but I think that is just the way he wanted it; just intimate with his closest friends. The kids enjoyed looking at his senior album and munching on the delicious Pine Creek inspired cake pops, cookies, and cupcakes.
