It doesn't matter how many times I have been to Japan because each adventure is exciting. Kyoto has to be one of my favorite places to visit in Japan. There is something so peaceful and calming about the many shrines in and around Kyoto. My favorite way to see the shrines is definitely by bike. This last adventure took us around Kyoto by e-bike which was incredible.
Iceland is like no other place I have ever been. It is a place that is remarkable and terrifying all at the same time. The weather is unpredictable and cold one moment and then sunny and pleasant the next. The many waterfalls and geysers are magnificent even in the winter and if you are lucky, you just may see the Northern Lights just once while soaking in a hot tub outside your cabin. I can't wait to go back to this incredible country.
This was my first time in Taiwan and so much of it reminded me of parts of Japan. We spent some time in the city and in the countryside and all of it was remarkable. Our favorite thing we did in and around Taipei were seeing Shifen Waterfall, releasing our family lantern in Shifen Old Town, shopping at Taipei 101, visiting the LDS Temple, and walking the grounds in Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Park. Oh, and one can't visit Taipei without experiencing the world renowned Mango Snowflake Ice. It was out of this world delicous.
Switzerland is probably one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to. It's definitely a place I would love to live someday. We were fortunate enough to be able to stay in Zermatt and actually see the Matterhorn while we were on our 10-day hike through the Swiss Alps. The weather in Zermatt is unpredictable and often the view of the Matterhorn is covered by clouds. When we first rolled into town we couldn't see anything. Then by some miracle we woke up the next morning and the sun was out and the view was clear. To see the Matterhorn in person was exhilarating and quite remarkable.
After spending a few years traveling around Japan and photographing so many amazing places, I was inspired to put together a coffee table book with many of the photos that I took and a brief history of the significance of each place to the people of Japan. I have so much respect and admiration for the Japanese people and their culture. I'm sure some of that stems from the fact that I have lived 1/3 of my life there. Living in Japan during my younger years shaped me into the person I am today. I am so grateful for that life-changing experience.
This book is still a work in progress but I hope to be able to put the finishing touches on it sometime soon. Once it is completed I will make it available for purchase through my website. Stay tuned and enjoy some of my sample pages. It is almost unreal how green and marvelous looking the country of Scotland is in person. I had the opportunity to spend a few days with my family there and was amazed at the beauty of the highlands of Scotland. From the castles to the waterfalls and the green forests in between, I loved everything about Scotland.
While on an Anniversary Trip with my husband in Aspen, CO we were able to spend some time hiking. We drove up Maroon Creek Road and got on the trail headed towards Crater Lake. The Maroon-Snowmass trail climbed through aspens to the lake. The views we saw were amazing.
It took me a while after moving to Colorado to get back into the photography side of things. I knew this morning would be a great photo opportunity with all the fresh snow that had fallen the night before. I decided to venture over to Garden of the Gods quite early to snap some photos of this beautiful place in the snow. There is something so spectacular about the Red Rock here in Colorado Springs. The snow just accentuated its beauty.
